LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST

SB 1195, Limón. Assessments: advanced placement examinations: fall testing date.
Existing law requires the Superintendent of Public Instruction to annually update the information on advanced placement available on the State Department of Education’s internet website to include current information on the various means available to school districts to offer or access advanced placement courses, including online courses, and to annually communicate with high schools that offer advanced placement courses in fewer than 5 subjects, and inform them of the various options for making advanced placement courses and other rigorous courses available to pupils who may benefit from them.
This bill would require the department, on or before February 1, 2025, to request the College Board to provide an alternative testing date at the end of the fall semester for all pupils in California whose advanced placement courses conclude in the fall semester, while maintaining the option for those pupils to take the advanced placement examination for those courses during the spring semester, at the discretion of the pupil.
Vote: MAJORITY   Appropriation: NO   Fiscal Committee: YES   Local Program: NO

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:

Section 52243 is added to the Education Code, immediately following Section 52242, to read:
