SB 141, Bates. Parole: sexually violent offenses: validated risk assessment.
Existing law grants the Board of Parole Hearings the power to grant parole to prisoners.
This bill would, if an inmate has a prior conviction for a sexually violent offense, as defined, require the board to consider the results of a comprehensive risk assessment for sex offenders in considering parole.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:


SECTION 1.

 Section 3053.9 is added to the Penal Code, to read:

3053.9.
 If an inmate has a prior conviction for a sexually violent offense, as defined in subdivision (b) of Section 6600 of the Welfare and Institutions Code, the board shall consider the results of a comprehensive risk assessment for sex offenders in considering parole.
