An act to amend Section 19653 of the Education Code, relating to libraries.

AB 622, as introduced, Chávez. Library districts: report.
Existing law requires the board of library trustees of a library district to annually file through the librarian, on or before August 31, a specified report with the State Librarian on the condition of the library and the number of volumes contained in that library.
This bill instead would require that specified annual report to be filed on or before September 30 with the State Librarian.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:


SECTION 1.

 Section 19653 of the Education Code is amended to read:

19653.
 The board of library trustees shall file, annually file through the librarian, on or before the last day in the month of August of each year, September 30, a report with the State Librarian at Sacramento giving the condition of the library and the number of volumes contained therein in the library on the 30th day of June preceding. The report shall, in addition to other matters deemed expedient by the board of trustees or the librarian, contain such shall contain, in addition to other matters deemed expedient by the board of trustees or the libraries, that statistical and other information as is deemed desirable by the State Librarian. For this purpose purpose, the State Librarian may send to the several district librarians instructions or question blanks so as to obtain the material for a comparative study of library conditions in the state.
