LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST

AB 635, as amended, Knight. Veterans’ benefits: public postsecondary education: mandatory educational fees.
Existing law establishes the 3 segments of public postsecondary education in this state. These segments include the California State University, which is administered by the Trustees of the California State University, the University of California, which is administered by the Regents of the University of California, and the California Community Colleges, which is administered by the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges. Most provisions of law apply to the University of California only to the extent that the regents, by resolution, make these provisions applicable.
This bill would specify that, for purposes of veterans’ benefits, the Trustees of the California State University, the Regents of the University of California, and the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges may shall, and the Regents of the University of California are requested to, designate mandatory education fees as tuition.
