An act to add Section 88533 to the Education Code, relating to postsecondary education.

California Community Colleges Economic and Workforce Development Program: Center of Innovation. Innovation for Green Technology.
Existing law establishes the California Community Colleges Economic and Workforce Development Program. Existing law provides for the awarding of grants for this program. Existing law provides that this program shall only be implemented during fiscal years for which funds are appropriated for these purposes. Existing law requires the board of governors, as part of the program, to assist economic and workforce regional development centers and consortia with regard to matters that include improving the quality of career technical education exploration.
This bill would create the Center of Innovation for Green Technology as an economic and workforce regional development center to support and encourage the workforce pertaining to the emerging clean technology industry. The bill would specify that the center be located
at a community college district in the San Francisco Bay area region.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:
SECTION 1.
Section 88533 is added to the Education Code, to read:88533.
The Center of Innovation for Green Technology is hereby created as an economic and workforce regional development center. The center shall serve to support and encourage the workforce pertaining to the emerging clean technology industry. The center shall be located at a community college district in the San Francisco Bay area region.
