An act to add Section 14017.5 to the Unemployment Insurance Code, relating to employment.

SB 1412, as introduced, Roth. California Workforce Development Board: reporting data.
Existing law establishes the California Workforce Development Board as the body responsible for assisting the Governor in the development, oversight, and continuous improvement of California’s workforce investment system and the alignment of the education and workforce investment systems to the needs of the 21st century economy and workforce. Existing law requires the board, among other things, to prepare and submit to the appropriate policy committees of the Legislature a report on the board’s findings and recommendations regarding expanding job training and employment for allied health professions.
This bill would require the board, in consultation with the Division of Apprenticeship Standards, to make information and data available to the community colleges regarding employment needs and trends for use in developing job-related curricula.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:


SECTION 1.

 Section 14017.5 is added to the Unemployment Insurance Code, to read:

14017.5.
 In an effort to better align employment needs and educational curricula, the California Workforce Development Board, in consultation with the Division of Apprenticeship Standards, shall make available to the community colleges in the state, upon request, information or data in its possession regarding employment needs and trends.
