An act to add Section 60642.1 to the Education Code, relating to pupil scores.

AB 2675, as introduced, Wyland. State Department of Education: pupil reading scores.
Under existing law, the Standardized Testing and Reporting Program (STAR), the State Board of Education is required to designate for use as part of the STAR program a single test in grades 2 to 11, inclusive. Under existing law, this achievement test is required to contain certain specified subject areas, including, among others, reading and mathematics.
This bill would require the State Department of Education to make the results of the reading portion and mathematics of that achievement test available on the department’s Web site. The bill would require the Web site to indicate the average percentile score in reading and mathematics for each grade level in each school for which scores are reported for the achievement test, would prescribe the format and content for reporting that information, and would prescribe other related matters.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:


SECTION 1.

 Section 60642.1 is added to the Education Code, to read:

60642.1.
 The State Department of Education shall make the results of the reading and mathematics portions of the achievement test adopted pursuant to Section 60642 available on the department’s Web site. The Web site shall indicate the average percentile score in reading and mathematics for each grade level in each school for which scores are reported for the achievement test, and shall organize the reading and mathematics scores by county, showing each school district and school in the county, arranged in alphabetical order. These scores shall be provided in a format that may be downloaded by a school for purposes of including that data in the school accountability report and required by Section 33126.
