An act to add Section 11450.22 to the Welfare and Institutions Code, relating to public social services.


LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


AB 1060, as introduced, Strickland. CalWORKS benefit increases.
Existing law provides for the California Work Opportunities and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) program, under which cash assistance and other benefits are provided to qualified low-income families.
Existing law requires certain CalWORKs recipients to participate in welfare-to-work activities, in accordance with welfare-to-work plans.
This bill would prohibit any aid grant level increase, including a cost-of-living adjustment, from being provided to any CalWORKs recipient who is out of compliance with his or her welfare-to-work plan.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:


SECTION 1.

 Section 11450.22 is added to the Welfare and Institutions Code, to read:

11450.22.
 When a recipient of benefits under this chapter is out of compliance with his or her welfare-to-work plan he or she shall not be entitled to receive any aid grant increase, including any cost-of-living adjustment.
