Governor's Message |
---|
To the Members of the California State Assembly: I am returning Assembly Bill 2689 without my signature. This bill prohibits a Governor's appointee, who is subject to confirmation, from making certain campaign contributions. The prohibitions in this bill may make sense, but so would many others-including banning contributions from anyone who seeks to influence legislation. There is no question that the current system is flawed, but this piece-meal approach is not the answer. My point is, before the Legislature starts down this road, they should consider where it leads. Sincerely, Edmund G. Brown Jr. |
