Governor's Message |

To the Members of the California State Senate: I am returning Senate Bill 1002 without my signature. This bill would require the State Chief Information Officer to provide a report to the Legislature on the feasibility of providing public records in a specific electronic format. The role of the State Chief Information Officer is to make sure that state government uses information technology efficiently and effectively - including providing public records electronically when possible. Another legislative report on electronic public records isn't necessary. Sincerely, Edmund G. Brown Jr. |
