An act to add Section 5015.8 to the Public Resources Code, relating to state parks.

AB 2021, as amended, Chen. State park system: Chino Hills State Park: expansion.
Existing law designates all parks, public campgrounds, monument sites, landmark sites, and sites of historical interest established or acquired by the state, or that are under its control, as the state park system, except as specified. Under existing law, the Department of Parks and Recreation controls the state park system, which is made up of units, one of which is the Chino Hills State Park.
This bill would require the department to provide all necessary assistance for the state’s acquisition and acceptance of 3 specified parcels from willing sellers that are adjacent to the Chino Hills State Park. The bill would require the department to agree to accept and manage each parcel as it is acquired with specified funds as part of the Chino Hills State Park, and to expedite development of a management plan for the parcels once acquired. The people of the State of California do enact as follows:


SECTION 1.

 Section 5015.8 is added to the Public Resources Code, to read:

5015.8.
 (a) The department shall seek opportunities for acquiring land to expand open space for Chino Hills State Park by providing all necessary assistance for the state’s acquisition and acceptance of three parcels from willing sellers that are adjacent to the Chino Hills State Park. The parcels are known as the Beattie, First National Investment Properties, and Chino Hills 300 parcels. The department shall agree to accept and manage each parcel as it is acquired as a part of the Chino Hills State Park.
(b) The department shall do both of the following for acquired parcels identified in subdivision (a): manage the parcels acquired pursuant to subdivision (a) with funds held for that purpose or obtained through a settlement agreement.

(1)Manage the parcels with funds held for that purpose or obtained through a settlement agreement.

(2)Expedite development of a management plan for the parcels.
