The people of the State of California do enact as follows:
SECTION 1.
Section 300 of the Streets and Highways Code is amended to read:
300.
(a)The state highway system shall consist consists of the routes described in this article.
It
(b) It is the intent of the Legislature, in enacting this article, that the routes of the state highway system serve the state’s heavily traveled rural and urban corridors, that they connect the communities and regions of the state, and that they serve the state’s economy by connecting centers of commerce, industry, agriculture, mineral wealth, and recreation.
