An act to add Sections 89528.5 and 92612.5 to the Education Code, relating to postsecondary education employees.


LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


SB 495, as amended, Yee. Postsecondary education employees: physicians.
Existing law establishes the California State University and the University of California as 2 of the segments of public postsecondary education in this state. Existing law requires the Trustees of the California State University to establish a supplemental salary program in order to improve the recruitment and retention of faculty in specified academic disciplines, and requires the University of California to administer the Community-Based Health Professions Education Partnership Program.
This bill would encourage make legislative findings and declarations that the California State University and the University of California to should make the funding of student health center clinics a priority when allocating funds for student and campus services, and to should give consideration for additional compensation to the physicians who address student health care challenges at student health centers in the respective segments center clinics.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:


SECTION 1.

 The Legislature finds and declares that the California State University and the University of California should make the funding of student health center clinics a priority when allocating funds for student and campus services, and should give consideration for additional compensation to the physicians who address student health care challenges at student health center clinics.
SECTION 1.Section 89528.5 is added to the Education Code, to read:
89528.5.

The California State University is encouraged to make the funding of student health center clinics a priority when allocating funds for student and campus services, and to give consideration for additional compensation to the physicians who address student health care challenges at California State University student health centers.

SEC. 2.Section 92612.5 is added to the Education Code, to read:
92612.5.

The University of California is encouraged to make the funding of student health center clinics a priority when allocating funds for student and campus services, and to give consideration for additional compensation to the physicians who address student health care challenges at University of California student health centers.
