Existing law provides for the Medi-Cal program, which is administered by the State Department of Health Care Services, and which provides health care services to qualified low-income persons. Existing law prescribes various requirements governing reimbursement rates for these services.
This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation that would increase Medi-Cal reimbursement rates for providers over the next 8 years and to make it a budget priority to increase the lowest rates first. would require, commencing January 1, 2009, the reimbursement levels for physician services under Medi-Cal to be increased to 80% of the amount
that the federal Medicare Program reimburses for these same services, and would thereafter require the rates to be increased annually in accordance with the California Consumer Price Index.
