An act to amend Section 51221.5 of the Education Code, relating to career technical education.

SB 949, as introduced, Wyland. Career technical education.
Existing law requires the adopted course of study for grades 7 to 12, inclusive, to include courses in career technical education designed and conducted to prepare youth for gainful employment in the occupations and in the numbers appropriate to the personnel needs of the state and the community served and relevant to the career desires and needs of the pupils. Existing law defines vocational-technical education as having the same meaning as career technical education.
This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to the provision establishing that definition.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:


SECTION 1.

 Section 51221.5 of the Education Code is amended to read:

51221.5.
 For the purposes of this code, the phrase “vocational-technical education” shall have has the same meaning as “career technical education” as described in subdivision (i) of Section 51220.
