Existing law authorizes the court to adjudge a minor a ward of the court under certain circumstances. Existing law generally requires the court to order the care, custody, and control of the minor to be under the supervision of the probation officer, as specified.
Existing law authorizes only a juvenile court judicial officer to make orders regarding the administration of psychotropic medications for a dependent child who has been removed from the physical custody of his or her parent.
This bill would extend that provision to a ward of the court who has been removed from the custody of a parent or guardian, thereby authorizing only a juvenile court judicial officer to make orders administering psychotropic medication to those wards, as specified.
By adding to the duties of county employees, this bill would impose a state-mandated local
program.
The California Constitution requires the state to reimburse local agencies and school districts for certain costs mandated by the state. Statutory provisions establish procedures for making that reimbursement.
This bill would provide that, if the Commission on State Mandates determines that the bill contains costs mandated by the state, reimbursement for those costs shall be made pursuant to these statutory provisions.
