LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST

AB 1794, Dutra. Spinal cord and traumatic brain injury programs: termination dates.
(1) Existing law establishes, until July 1, 2007, the Traumatic Brain Injury Fund. Under existing law, moneys in the fund are used, upon appropriation by the Legislature, to develop, at designated sites, a system of postacute continuum-of-care models for adults 18 years of age or older with an acquired traumatic brain injury.
This bill would extend the January 1, 2007, termination date to July 1, 2012.
(2) Existing law establishes, until January 1, 2006, the Spinal Cord Injury Research Fund for the award of grants to conduct basic neurological research into the cure for spinal cord injuries and their effects. Existing law continuously appropriates the fund, which is composed of private and public moneys, to the University of California to administer the grants.
This bill would extend the January 1, 2006, termination date to January 1, 2011. By extending the term of a continuously appropriated fund, this bill would make an appropriation.
