Existing law requires the State Board of Education to adopt statewide academically rigorous content standards, including those for the core curriculum areas of history and social science.
This bill would appropriate $100,000 in order to provide sufficient funding to the Superintendent of Public Instruction for allocation to school districts in order to enable school districts to purchase instructional materials that relate to those content standards in history and social sciences and that pertain to California labor history.
The sum of one hundred thousand dollars
($100,000) is hereby appropriated from the General Fund to the Superintendent of Public Instruction for allocation to school districts in order to enable school districts to purchase textbooks, curricula, lesson plans, and other appropriate instructional materials, that are consistent with the history and social sciences standards adopted pursuant to subdivision (a) of Section 60605 of the Education Code and that relate to California labor history, from the Spanish colonial period to the present day, so that they may be used during Labor History Week.
