Relative to electric power rates.

ACR 1, as introduced, Wright. Electric power rates.
This measure would designate price stability as the first priority of the state regarding the setting of rates for electric power, ensuring the reliability of the state’s power grid as the second priority, and establishing the lowest possible prices as the third priority.

WHEREAS, In recent years, policymakers have pursued the goal of establishing the lowest possible prices for electricity as the first priority regarding electric power rates; and
WHEREAS, This practice is risky and expensive and has exposed Californians to severe price spikes during the summer months; and
WHEREAS, Commencing in the summer of 2000 and continuing to the present, wholesale prices for electricity have skyrocketed in California; and
WHEREAS, The extraordinarily high costs of electricity are threatening the economic well-being of the state; and
WHEREAS, Accordingly, it is necessary to reorder the state’s priorities regarding electric power rates; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the Assembly of the State of California, the Senate thereof concurring, That the first priority of the state regarding the setting of rates for electric power is price stability; and be it further
Resolved, That the second priority is ensuring the reliability of the state’s power grid; and be it further
Resolved, That the third priority is establishing the lowest possible prices.
