Relative to speech and language development programs.


LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


HR 12, as amended, Reyes.

WHEREAS, Aleen Agranowitz and Gladys Gleason are founders of the Speech and Language Development Center in Buena Park, California; and
WHEREAS, The Speech and Language Development Center has made a profound difference in the lives of thousands of children and their families to find hope when faced with the challenges of speech, language, learning, and behavior problems; and
WHEREAS, The Speech and Language Development Center and its founders have developed a comprehensive and effective vocational program for students, beginning at the age of three years and continuing through a transitional program when students reach the age of 19 years, to prepare each student to lead a productive life; and
WHEREAS, The Speech and Language Development Center has made significant contributions toward providing instruction to families to assist their disabled child to reach his or her greatest potential; and
WHEREAS, Aleen Agranowitz and Gladys Gleason have been active in local organizations, finding pleasure in being of service to those in need, acting as outstanding advocates with respect to issues relating to children’s health and well-being and whose contributions in this area have established a new standard for the care provided to children with multiple disabilities; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the Assembly of the State of California, That April 23, 2001, be declared in the State of California as Speech and Language Day in honor of The Speech and Language Development Center, Aleen Agranowitz, and Gladys Gleason.
