Relative to the California Tow Truck Association.


LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


ACR 198, as amended, Firebaugh. The California Tow Truck Association.
This measure would congratulate the California Tow Truck Association on its 32nd anniversary and recognize its contributions to the state’s efforts to manage traffic congestion.
Fiscal Committee: NO  
WHEREAS, The California Tow Truck Association was formed in 1970 by a small group of tow truck owners committed to improving the towing industry; and
WHEREAS, One of the first acts of the California Tow Truck Association was the adoption of a code of ethics for its members that calls for upholding high standards, honor, and integrity; and
WHEREAS, The California Tow Truck Association has grown to more than 700 members, all of whom are committed to upholding the Association’s Code of Ethics and who are dedicated to promoting, through organization, volunteer efforts and cooperation with other groups and associations such as the Department of the California Highway Patrol, city police and county sheriffs, Department of Transportation, and the California Trucking Association, safety and professionalism in the towing industry; and
WHEREAS, The California Tow Truck Association has developed and maintained, under the guidance of the program’s founder and current Director, Steve Cardinale, the finest and most respected driver training and education program in the United States. The association’s intensive two to three day training program incorporates both rigorous classroom instruction and practical, hands-on instruction on everything from the proper way to tow a passenger vehicle that has become disabled on the highway to the safe and efficient method to remove an overturned, fully-loaded tractor trailer. The association’s eight instructors average more that 25 years of towing experience; and
WHEREAS, The California Tow Truck Association has worked closely with Senators and Assembly Members and has sponsored and supported legislation over the last 32 years to make the towing industry more professional, safer, and more responsive to the needs of the motoring public; and
WHEREAS, The California Tow Truck Association has worked closely with law enforcement, including providing officers with free access to the association’s towing education classes to ensure that tow operators and law enforcement officers work safely and efficiently together; and
WHEREAS, The California Tow Truck Association’s well-trained, responsible, and professional tow operators have become an integral part of California’s congestion management relief efforts; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the Assembly of the State of California, the Senate thereof concurring, That the Legislature does hereby congratulate the California Tow Truck Association on its 32nd anniversary and recognizes the valuable contributions made by the California Tow Truck Association in promoting driver training and education, safety and professionalism in the towing industry, and for becoming an important part of the state’s efforts to manage traffic congestion; and be it further.
Resolved, That the Chief Clerk of the Assembly prepare and transmit copies of this resolution to the author for appropriate distribution.
