Existing law establishes the salaries of nonelected members of various state boards and commissions, and requires that this salary be increased in any fiscal year in which a general salary increase is provided for state employees, except that the amount of the increase shall not exceed the percentage of the general salary increases provided for state employees during that fiscal year.
This bill would provide, notwithstanding the above provisions, with respect to any salary increase made after January 1, 1997, for specified nonelected members of state boards and commissions, that the annual compensation provided by these provisions shall not automatically increase but may be increased in any fiscal year in which there is a general increase in the salary rates and ranges for state civil service classifications, except that the amount of the increase, as determined by the Department of Personnel Administration and subject to the appropriation of funds by the Legislature in the annual Budget Act, would not exceed the percentage of the general increase in the salary rates and ranges for classifications provided during that fiscal year for state employees designated as managerial. The bill would also delete obsolete provisions of law.
