Existing law prohibits the practice of dentistry without a license issued by the Board of Dental Examiners of California. Under existing law, the board may take disciplinary action against a licensed dentist for unprofessional conduct. Existing law enumerates the acts that constitute unprofessional conduct for dentists.
This bill would provide that it is unprofessional conduct for a licensed dentist to perform, or to hold himself or herself out as able to perform, services beyond the scope of his or her license or competency. This bill would exempt certain research from this provision.
