WHEREAS, Californians for Drug Free Youth, Inc., a statewide parent-community organization, the State Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs, the State Department of Education, the California Parent Teacher Association, the California National Guard, the United States Army, the California Medical Association, the Council on Alcohol Problems, the California Farm Bureau Federation, CalFarm Insurance, the California Chiropractic Association, the Herman Goelitz Candy Company, and the Attorney General’s Crime Prevention Center are cosponsoring October 24 through November 1, 1992, as “Red Ribbon Week”; and
WHEREAS, Business, government, law enforcement, schools, religious institutions, service organizations, youth, senior citizens, medical and military personnel, sports teams, and individuals throughout the State of California will demonstrate their commitment to drug-free, healthy lifestyles by wearing and displaying red ribbons during this week-long campaign; and
WHEREAS, The Assembly has further committed its resources to ensure the success of the Red Ribbon Campaign; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the Assembly of the State of California, the Senate thereof concurring, That the California Legislature does hereby support the Red Ribbon Campaign by proclaiming October 24 through November 1, 1992, as “Red Ribbon Week,” and by encouraging the citizens of California to help build drug-free communities and to participate in drug prevention activities by making a visible statement that we are firmly committed to a drug-free life; and be it further
Resolved, That the California Legislature encourages all citizens to personally pledge, “DRUG-FREE & PROUD!”; and be it further
Resolved, That the Chief Clerk of the Assembly transmit a copy of this resolution to the Governor of the State of California.
