ACR 125, Epple. Armed Forces Day 1992.
This measure would proclaim the full support of the Legislature of the State of California for all American armed service personnel serving in our United States armed forces and reserves and that the Legislature of the State of California joins all Californians in acknowledging May 16, 1992, as Armed Forces Day.

WHEREAS, Grateful Americans have been saluting this country’s military for more than 200 years; and
WHEREAS, In 1949, Armed Forces Day officially came into existence as the third Saturday in May and as a new day of observance to encourage interservice cooperation; and
WHEREAS, America’s gratitude to its armed forces is far-reaching and our nation’s thanks to those who have worn the uniforms extends well beyond the obvious thanks for keeping American citizens free; and
WHEREAS, Armed Forces Day 1992 is a time to commemorate the more than 530,000 American soldiers that were sent to Saudia Arabia, as well as the 220,000 reservists activated by the four United States military services; and
WHEREAS, Armed Forces Day 1992 is a day to commemorate the over 15,000 reservists living in California who were called to active duty to participate in Operation Desert Storm; and
WHEREAS, All Californians, and all Americans share the goal of a peaceful world, free of war; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the Assembly of the State of California, the Senate thereof concurring, That the Legislature of the State of California proclaims its full support for all American armed service personnel serving in our United States armed forces and reserves and joins all Californians in acknowledging May 16, 1992, as Armed Forces Day.
