An act to amend Section 1349.1 of the Health and Safety Code, relating to health care service plans.

AB 1518, as introduced, Kiley. Health care service plan licensing.
Existing law, the Knox-Keene Health Care Service Plan Act of 1975, provides for the licensure and regulation of health care service plans by the Department of Managed Health Care. Existing law exempts a health care service plan from required licensure if it provides only emergency ambulance services or advanced life support services, or both, and is operated by a state or local governmental entity.
This bill would make a technical, nonsubstantive change to that provision.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:


SECTION 1.

 Section 1349.1 of the Health and Safety Code is amended to read:

1349.1.
 A health care service plan which that satisfies both of the following criteria is exempt from Section 1349:
(a)  Provides only emergency ambulance services or advanced life support services, as defined by Section 1797.52, or both.
(b)  Is operated by the State of California, any city, county, city and county, public district, or public authority.
