Relative to California’s Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week and Month.

HR 31, as amended, Jackson.

WHEREAS, Addressing the complex mental and emotional health needs of children, youth, and families today is fundamental to the future of California; and
WHEREAS, The need for comprehensive and coordinated mental health services for children, youth, young adults, and families creates a responsibility on our state as a whole; and

WHEREAS, It is appropriate that a week in May is set apart each year to recognize Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week in order to bring attention to the importance of children’s mental health and well-being; and

WHEREAS, The Extraordinary Lives Foundation, through its unique approach to awareness and early prevention, is effectively caring for the mental health needs of children and their families throughout California by providing an upstream approach to mental and emotional wellness; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the Assembly of the State of California, That the Assembly hereby proclaims May 7, 2023, to May 13, 2023, inclusive, as California’s Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week, proclaims May 2023 as California’s Children’s Mental Health Awareness Month, May 2023 as Mental Health Awareness Month and urges our California residents and all agencies and organizations in our state interested in meeting every child’s person’s mental health needs to unite during that month, and especially during that week, in observance of exercises that will acquaint the people of California with the fundamental necessity of a year-round mental health program for children all people, children, and their families; and be it further
Resolved, That the Chief Clerk of the Assembly transmit copies of this resolution to the author for appropriate distribution.
