An act to amend Section 9148.52 of the Government Code, relating to the Legislature.

AB 477, as introduced, Waldron. Legislative review of state boards.
Existing law requires the Joint Sunset Review Committee to review eligible agencies and prepare a report that is made available to the public and the Legislature on whether the agency should be terminated, or continued, or whether its functions should be revised or consolidated with those of another agency, as specified.
This bill would require the report prepared by the committee to be made available to the public online.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:


SECTION 1.

 Section 9148.52 of the Government Code is amended to read:

9148.52.
 (a) The Joint Sunset Review Committee established pursuant to Section 9147.7 shall review all eligible agencies.
(b) The committee shall evaluate and make determinations pursuant to Article 7.5 (commencing with Section 9147.7).
(c) Pursuant to an evaluation made as specified in this section, the committee shall make a report which that shall be available to the public and the Legislature and to the public, including by posting the report online, on whether an agency should be terminated, or continued, or whether its functions should be revised or consolidated with those of another agency, and include any other recommendations as necessary to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the agency. If the committee deems it advisable, the report may include proposed legislative proposals that would carry out its recommendations.
