SB-1475 Food safety: hamburger and imitation hamburger.(2023-2024)



As Amends the Law Today


SECTION 1.

 Section 111205 of the Health and Safety Code is amended to read:

111205.
 (a)  If imitation hamburger is sold or served in restaurant  a restaurant, a  list of the  ingredients thereof  shall appear on the menu, menu  or, if there is no menu, the information shall be posted as state department shall by regulations require. No list of ingredients, however, shall  required by state regulations. A list of ingredients shall not  be required for imitation hamburger that contains not more than 10 percent added protein and water, water  and that does not contain other binders or extenders.
(b)  No A  restaurant shall not  use the terms “hamburger,” “burger,” or any other cognate thereof in any advertisement, an advertisement  or menu to refer to any  imitation hamburger. A restaurant selling or serving imitation hamburger may refer to the product as imitation hamburger or by any other term that accurately informs the customer of the nature of the food product that he or she  the customer  is sold or served.
