AB-1593 State claims: California Victim Compensation Board: Government Claims Program.(2021-2022)

As Amends the Law on Jul 26, 2021


SECTION 1.
 The sum of five million six hundred seventy-five thousand eight hundred eighty dollars ($5,675,880) is hereby appropriated from the General Fund to the Executive Officer of the California Victim Compensation Board, as follows:
(a) The sum of three hundred seventy-nine thousand five hundred forty dollars ($379,540) for the payment of the claim of Derrick Harris, accepted by the board and reported to the Legislature pursuant to Section 4904 of the Penal Code.
(b) The sum of nine hundred sixty-eight thousand eight hundred dollars ($968,800) for the payment of the claim of Jeremy Puckett, accepted by the board and reported to the Legislature pursuant to Section 4904 of the Penal Code.
(c) The sum of one million two hundred fifty-one thousand six hundred dollars ($1,251,600) for the payment of the claim of Arturo Jimenez, accepted by the board and reported to the Legislature pursuant to Section 4904 of the Penal Code.
(d) The sum of one million four hundred twenty-five thousand sixty dollars ($1,425,060) for the payment of the claim of Robert Fenenbock, accepted by the board and reported to the Legislature pursuant to Section 4904 of the Penal Code.
(e) The sum of one million six hundred fifty thousand eight hundred eighty dollars ($1,650,880) for the payment of the claim of Andrew Wilson, accepted by the board and reported to the Legislature pursuant to Section 4904 of the Penal Code.
SEC. 2.
 (a) The sum of one thousand one hundred forty-six dollars ($1,146) is hereby appropriated to the Department of General Services for the payment of claims accepted by the Government Claims Program in accordance with the schedule set forth in subdivision (b).
(b) Pursuant to subdivision (a), claims accepted by the Department of General Services shall be paid in accordance with the following schedule:

Total for Fund: Item 2740-001-0044
Total for Fund: Board of Equalization (0001)...............$1,000.00
Total for Fund: Item 0860-002-0001
SEC. 3.
 This act is an urgency statute necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, or safety within the meaning of Article IV of the California Constitution and shall go into immediate effect. The facts constituting the necessity are:
In order to pay claims against the state and end hardship to claimants as quickly as possible, it is necessary that this act take effect immediately.
