AB-2012 Free senior transit passes: eligibility for state funding.(2019-2020)



As Amends the Law Today


SECTION 1.

 Chapter 2.5 (commencing with Section 99125) is added to Part 11 of Division 10 of the Public Utilities Code, to read:

CHAPTER  2.5. Free Senior Transit Passes
99125.
 Notwithstanding any other law, a transit agency shall offer free senior transit passes to persons over 65 years of age in order to be eligible for state funding under the Mills-Deddeh Transit Development Act (Division 11 (commencing with Section 120000)), the State Transit Assistance Program described in subdivision (a) of Section 99312.2, and the Low Carbon Transit Operations Program created by Part 3 (commencing with Section 75230) of Division 44 of the Public Resources Code.

 A free senior transit pass provided pursuant to Section 99125 shall count as a full price fare for purposes of calculating the ratio of fare revenues to operating costs.
