As Amends the Law Today

Section 89700.2 is added to the Education Code, to read:

 (a) The California State University shall not charge tuition or mandatory systemwide fees for enrollment at a campus of the university for any academic year, up to two academic years, to a California Community College transfer student who has satisfied either of the following:
(1) The student has completed an associate degree for transfer.
(2) The student has received a fee waiver pursuant to subdivision (b) of Section 76396.3.
(b) Upon appropriation by the Legislature, the chancellor shall distribute funding to each campus participating in the California Promise established pursuant to Part 40.2 (commencing with Section 67430) of Division 5 to offset the costs of waiving tuition and mandatory systemwide fees pursuant to subdivision (a). It is the intent of the Legislature that sufficient funding be allocated to each participating campus to offset the cost of all tuition and mandatory systemwide fee waivers granted pursuant to subdivision (a).
