SECTION 1.
(a) The California Commission on Aging shall conduct a review of existing local, state, and national data, surveys, and reports related to senior center infrastructure needs, best practices, and emerging trends, including any recent studies conducted covering senior centers in California. The commission shall also convene a meeting of stakeholders to consider the review for completeness and scope, and, by July 1, 2009, shall prepare and submit a report to the Senate Subcommittee on Aging and Long-Term Care and the Assembly Committee on Aging and Long-Term Care, containing its findings and recommendations pertaining to the review.(b) The goal of the commission’s review is to ensure that the state possesses complete and accurate information regarding the overall needs for senior centers throughout California, to better inform future discussions relating to the development of a state senior center infrastructure bond proposal in 2010.
(c) This section shall only be implemented to the extent that nonstate funds are available for this purpose.
