AB-15 Seismic safety: public buildings.(1989-1990)



As Amends the Law Today


SECTION 1.
 For the purposes of the Earthquake Safety and Public Buildings Rehabilitation Bond Act of 1990 (Chapter 12.47 (commencing with Section 8878.50) of Division 1 of Title 2 of the Government Code), and in accordance with subdivision (d) of Section 8878.55 of the Government Code, there is hereby appropriated one hundred forty thousand dollars ($140,000) from the Earthquake Safety and Public Buildings Rehabilitation Fund of 1990 to the Seismic Safety Commission for use during the 1990–91 fiscal year for the purpose of establishing guidelines for the administration and disbursement of funds.
SEC. 2.
 This act is an urgency statute necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, or safety within the meaning of Article IV of the Constitution and shall go into immediate effect. The facts constituting the necessity are:
In order for the immediate commencement of the Proposition 122 earthquake hazards research program to begin so that research can be completed prior to and applied to the seismic retrofit of state and local government buildings and facilities, it is essential that this act take immediate effect.
