An act to add Section 22950.3 to the Education Code, relating to retirement.

SB 1061, as introduced, Mendoza. State Teachers’ Retirement Plan: employer contributions: notification.
The State Teachers’ Retirement Law establishes the Defined Benefit Program of the State Teachers’ Retirement Plan. The law requires certain employers, as defined, to contribute moneys to the State Teachers’ Retirement System (STRS).
This bill would require an employer that fails to make a required contribution to STRS to notify members of the delinquency within 30 days, as specified.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:


SECTION 1.

 Section 22950.3 is added to the Education Code, to read:

22950.3.
 An employer that fails to pay the employer’s contribution required by this part and Section 44987 shall notify the member of the employer’s delinquency, as provided in Section 23002, by mail, to the member’s latest address, within 30 days of the delinquent payment.
