Governor's Veto Message
To Members of the California State Assembly:

I am returning Assembly Bill 774 without my signature.

This bill would expand data collected by the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development to include the time period a patient is in the emergency department.

This new regulatory burden increases healthcare costs and needs to be considered as part of a more comprehensive plan to address healthcare costs and providing care in the appropriate setting. My administration is committed to working with stakeholders to lower healthcare costs and improving patient outcomes.

Sincerely,

Gavin Newsom
