An act to amend Section 42653 of the Food and Agricultural Code, relating to agriculture.

AB 564, as introduced, Committee on Agriculture. Food and agriculture: fruits, nuts, and vegetables: inspections.
Existing law provides for the inspection and certification of fruits, nuts, and vegetables sold in California. Existing law authorizes the Secretary of Food and Agriculture to enforce and make inspections of grade, standard of quality, and other provisions of any fruit, nut, or vegetable marketing program, as specified.
This bill would provide that the secretary may enforce and make inspections of grade, standard of quality, and other provisions of any raw unprocessed fruit, nut, or vegetable marketing, food safety, or enforcement program, as provided.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:


SECTION 1.

 Section 42653 of the Food and Agricultural Code is amended to read:

42653.
 The director, secretary, through the chief of the branch of the department which that has jurisdiction over the enforcement of this division, or any deputy, inspector, or agent of the department, may enforce and make inspections of grade, standard of quality, and other provisions of any raw unprocessed fruit, nut, or vegetable marketing marketing, food safety, or enforcement program which that is adopted under the authority of the United States or of this state.
