An act relating to state boards, commissions, and committees.

AB 1518, as amended, Anderson. State government: boards, commissions, committees: report.
Existing law authorizes the creation of various state boards, commissions, and committees.
This bill would require the Department of Finance, on or before July 1, 2011, to send a report to 2 specific legislative committees the Chief Clerk of the Assembly and the Secretary of the Senate that identifies every state board, commission, and committee created by statute that the department determines to be inactive, as defined, with respect to the reason for which it was established. The bill would define “inactive” as having failed to meet or to have a quorum at any of its regular meetings on or after January 1, 2008.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:


SECTION 1.

 On or before July 1, 2011, the Department of Finance shall send a report to the Assembly Committee on Business and Professions and the Senate Committee on Business, Professions and Economic Development that identifies every state board, Chief Clerk of the Assembly and the Secretary of the Senate that identifies every state board, commission, and committee created by statute that the department determines to be inactive with respect to the reason for which it was established. For purposes of this section, “inactive” means has failed to meet or to have a quorum at any of its regular meetings on or after January 1, 2008. a state board, commission, or committee has not met since January 1, 2008.

SEC. 2.

 This act shall remain in effect only until January 1, 2015, and as of that date is inoperative, unless a later enacted statute, that is enacted before January 1, 2015, extends that date.
