AB-1204 Public water systems: primary drinking water standards: implementation date.(2019-2020)



As Amends the Law Today


SECTION 1.

 Section 116365.1 is added to the Health and Safety Code, to read:

116365.1.
 (a) Except as provided in subdivision (b), a primary drinking water standard adopted pursuant to Section 116365 and any amendment to a primary drinking water standard for a contaminant in drinking water not regulated by a federal primary drinking water standard adopted by the United States Environmental Protection Agency or that is more stringent than a federal primary drinking water standard adopted by the United States Environmental Protection Agency, shall take effect three years after the date on which the state board adopts or amends the primary drinking water standard.
(b) The state board may delay the effective date of a primary drinking water standard described in subdivision (a) by no more than two additional years as necessary for capital improvements to comply with a maximum contaminant level or treatment technique.
